New mix of live and digital drawing

This is a drawing from a profile photo on facebook which I was given permission to use. I started this about 3 years ago and it just sat on my desk for most of the time. I wasn't getting the rich darkness to be as rich as I wanted it/ Last week I decided to scan it and try using my Bamboo pad to finish it. This the result.

Mountain sketch.. a love and hate sketch..LOL!

This is a drawing based on another sketch but was altered to make my own. The idea was to work more on shading and lighting and to give my drawing more depth and personality. There is some muddiness with this sketch that bugs me a great deal but the idea was not to draw perfection but to learn. Now that I have it scanned and I see it more clear...I lost my depth and detail. I got a little carried away with the smuggling I guess.  Maybe next time it will look better?

This is a sketch done from a profile photo of a good friend of mine from the U.K. I wanted to work on my shading and hair drawing skills.... clearly I need more work but it does look like him and it has a nice vibe to it. I wish I could have gotten more texture to the face to make it stand out more and around the eyes to make them look sharper and more life like. It's a hit and miss but it's one more step towards being better at drawing.

Homeless Feet.

This my newest drawing done from a photo I found on the net called " Homeless Feet" It struck a personal chord with me and I wanted to give a try and try to do a drawing of it. It does have some flaws but I think it's pretty good for my first time drawing feet.

Two new drawings.. kinda cool stuff I think. :)

This is just a combo of ink, marker and the eye was done on my computer. The first eye i did with ink and marker and it turn into mud so i had to redo the eye on my computer. I think it has an interesting look and feel, although it did not look as detailed as I wanted. This was my first time using ink so for the most part.. I like it.

This is a drawing I did for a friend of mine from face book who had to return to the hospital for some more test and as he and his partner waited for them to come get him to run the test... his partner John fell asleep. My friend took this photo and posted it. I saw it and loved how the photo came out and felt inspired to do a drawing of the photo. Not too toot my own horn but I think this one of my best or the best sketch of a person i have ever done. There are some flaws and spots that needs to be cleaned up a bit but all in all I am really happy how it came out.

Thought I would give this type of drawing a try. Not too bad but not too great.

This is a sketch I started a few years ago and thought I would finish it. It does not have the feel I wanted but I will keep trying. I really do love nature based art.

Gary's eyes

This is a pencil sketch . Not what I was wanting but it's okay. In the photo his eyes are smiling and I did not capture it right. Will try again another time.

Another drawing of a FB bud by request.

This is another drawing request from a facebook friend. It looks a little harder than the photo but I like it this way for some odd reason. Some flaws here and there but it still looks pretty decent to me.

A good-bye Drawing for David Powers

This is David Powers a very long time friend of mine who passed away a little over a week ago. His husband Pete, of 17 years asked me to do this drawing for him. It was a great honor to have known this wonderful human being and I will always cherish our friendship. Thank you David for loving me and caring about me when no one else did or could.

Mandy Sketch :)

This is a drawing of Mandy a friend of mine from the U.K This was a tough one due to the long hair. Drawing long hair or any hair is still a new thing to me. After a few try's I think I got it done. The hair looks flat and has no movement but I am still learning as I go.

This is a trace outline of a photo and then printed. All the details are done with graphite and dry pastels The idea is to  do more like like faces  with tattoo style drawing,.Due to shaky hands.. I had to  use Photoshop to get my outline. So I had to cheat a little to get the proportions right. Sorry about that.

First full draft for " The Complexity of Self."

This is the first completed draft of " The Complexity of Self" I was recommended to not over detail this drawing so I thought I would just send it out as is and see what everyone thinks. You will see a bunch of flaws and mistakes but over all I am liking the direction it's going. I still feel like maybe I should take a little further but I could be wrong. I am learning this as I go. I'm self taught.. I think you can tell LOL

This is a charcoal sketch. They are both the same drawing but both have different colors. The sketch was too big for the scanner so I just focused on the core image of the drawing.

Drawing for a Friend.

This is a drawing a friend of mine ask me to do. He was the front man for Alice in Chains. I did this from a photo of him. It's not as real looking as I wanted but I like to slight dis-connect.

This is the final drawing. I think it looks MUCH better than the first one.
